It's spring

Hi everybody. Finally!!! a nice sunny day, I see the fields already turning a little green and Robins hopping around picking worms. I think my cats are welcoming it too as they were right up my butt everywhere I went. They followed me to the workshop to get my tools, wandered amongst the chickens while I fed them, squeezed under the truck to lay on my chest while I changed the oil, laid across the intake while I checked under the hood in general they were a welcomed nuisance. Its funny to watch both of them jockeying for the closest spot.
We got a touch of bad news at work this week, they are asking for voluntary layoffs of forty people. It is much better than any other company I've heard of since they are offering a fifteen hundred dollar incentive and will maintain health and dental insurance (and pay the employees portion). They also put it in writing that they will be called back in June but there is a possibility of a thirty day extension that would put the callback to July. The bad part is if things aren't better by then there will be a mandatory layoff based on job, performance , and reviews. I have been assured that as long as the facility exists my position will exist. Somewhat comforting however Clarks is a UK based company and I hear things are much worse over there.
Thats all for now, time to get the day going. Greg
