Rainy

Hey Everyone!! Just a quick note while my pizza bakes.
Thats really good news Joe, It's hard to find expanding companies right now, I bet you been puttin in a lot of long hours on this one. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope there are very few Gremlins in the works. There were over one hundred volunteers for our layoff so fifty were selected and next week is their last week. It was such a successful program two people walked out and quit because they weren't selected, lol, go figure. Now everyone will probably get consistant forty hour weeks.
Such an ugly, foggy, rainy day out there, just perfect for a good movie and pizza.

White Buffalo Pizza
One pop-n-fresh can-o pizza dough
Three quarter cup ricotta cheese mixed with three quarter cup white cheesy alfredo sauce
One can-o chicken white meat chunks marinated in hot buffalo wing sauce
Eight ounces shredded mozzerella
Four ounces shredded cheddar
Slap it all together pizza style and bake at 425 degrees til the cheese browns.
As for the movie I am playing Dances With Wolves and Tombstone.

Greg and Dan:
I agree on the garden, did mine the other day as well, or at least tilled it, raked it, and will plant it on Good Friday so the ol' timers say. Nice fish, and this plant is almost done, next week is the grand opening, and then onto production, so I should be up real soon in April to join you on the river bank Dan!
Cindy is doing great she is back to work, and is absolutley amazing in her recovery. Although she did say to me, "Joe, dont forget I still have some massages coming from Dan, so when you go fishing, make it so we both can benefit" hehehehe, I said, well only if dan is at work and not fishing with me.
All is well here in GA, and plugging away. Hope all are doing well in and around our circle, talk with you later, have a great day.

Joe

This years catch so far...

Here are some of the fish I caught so far this year:

Freshwater Drum, the one on the top weighed about 20lbs., the one on the bottom was about 15lbs. and I caught it on 6lb. test line in heavy river current. I battled it for about 15 minutes before I landed it.

A couple crappie caught on two different days, both were 12 inches.

A white bass, these and yellow bass are abundant, but do not get very big. Although they do put up a good fight for their size.

I forgot to get a picture of the Blue Catfish I caught yesterday. It was small (only about 2lbs.) not like these Blue's that were caught by this guy who was fishing near me:
The one he's holding went about 20lbs. the biggest one was 35 inches long and went about 30lbs. I helped him carry the stringer of fish up the bank and to his truck. I would guess the total weight around 120lbs.

I'd rather be fishing

I'm way ahead of you Dan. I've been setting back a few things here and a few things there for about a year now but no matter how much you set aside it still don't feel like enough. I'm gonna fire up the incubator and double my flock of chickens soon. this article here http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article9615.html
pretty much sums up the actions taken so far and yet I still see no slow down in sight. That light at the end of the tunnel is a big fat freight train in my opinion.
The biggest problem is failure or fear to call it what it is- depression- they insist its a recession and thereby battle it as such. Recession is brought about by excess credit and inflation where what we have is excess debt brought by excess credit and expanding money supply over an extended period of time. This site describes it better than I can. http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article9053.html
If you feel like connecting the dots a little this site is an interesting read. Pay special attention to Larry Summers he's been instrumental in the collapse of the Soviet Union, South Korea, repeal of the Glass- Steagall act, Iceland and other actions, now he is appointed as head of the national economic council. When you start connecting who's who and where they come from the rabbit hole gets mighty deep Alice. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=10860 There is nothing little peons like us can do other than prepare and try to get out the information that the news won't tell us.
I built a little raised bed garden over the weekend. It's 6ft by 12 ft. not big enough to supply for the winter but will make for some great fresh veggies through the summer and I'll be giving the excess to our foodbank we set up at work for the laid off employees. Right now I donate about two dozen eggs a week since the chickens lay way more than I need. So far the economy has me scared but it hasn't affected my lifestyle one little bit, I've always lived prudently.
I hope you send some of that weather to me Dan, its still in the teens in the morning and gets up to about sixty on the sunny or should I say partly sunny days.

Bummer about the lay-offs

Hey Greg,

Glad to see your doing ok, even though there are lay offs. It's been getting real nice down here, 70's and even had a couple days in the 80's. The fish are biting, I've caught some Crappie, Catfish, and a couple huge freshwater Drum.

It's going to get worse before it get's better. If I were you, I'd think about a big garden, gettin Mom to teach you canning, so you can put up the veggies, keep the chickens, basically go back to the "good ol' days" and be self sufficiant. If I had the land that's what I would be doing!

The Park Bench, author unknown

The park bench was deserted as I sat down to read
beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
for the world was intent on dragging me down.
And if that weren't enough to ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
and said with great excitement, "Look what I found!"
In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,
with it's petals all worn, not enough rain, or to little light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a small smile and then shifted away.
But instead of retreating he sat by my side
and placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise,
"It sure smells pretty and it's beautiful, too.
That's why I picked it; here it's for you."
The weed before me was dying or dead.
Not vibrant of colors, orange, yellow or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need."
But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
he held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the very first time
that weed-toting boy could not see: he was blind.
I heard my voice quiver, tears shone like the sun
as I thanked him for picking the very best one.
You're welcome, he smiled, and then ran off to play,
unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.
I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
a self-pitying old man beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart,
he'd been blessed with true sight.
Through the eyes of a blind child,
at last I could see the problem was not with the world;
the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life,
and appreciate every second that's mine.
And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose
and breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose.
And smiled as I watched that young boy,
another weed in his hand
about to change the life of another unsuspecting old man.

It's spring

Hi everybody. Finally!!! a nice sunny day, I see the fields already turning a little green and Robins hopping around picking worms. I think my cats are welcoming it too as they were right up my butt everywhere I went. They followed me to the workshop to get my tools, wandered amongst the chickens while I fed them, squeezed under the truck to lay on my chest while I changed the oil, laid across the intake while I checked under the hood in general they were a welcomed nuisance. Its funny to watch both of them jockeying for the closest spot.
We got a touch of bad news at work this week, they are asking for voluntary layoffs of forty people. It is much better than any other company I've heard of since they are offering a fifteen hundred dollar incentive and will maintain health and dental insurance (and pay the employees portion). They also put it in writing that they will be called back in June but there is a possibility of a thirty day extension that would put the callback to July. The bad part is if things aren't better by then there will be a mandatory layoff based on job, performance , and reviews. I have been assured that as long as the facility exists my position will exist. Somewhat comforting however Clarks is a UK based company and I hear things are much worse over there.
Thats all for now, time to get the day going. Greg

I agree Greg, it may take some time for all to get connected. I know I have tried, between work, and internet issues, and then it not allowing me, who knows. I think this is a fantastic idea (DAN) and that we should really keep this going. I know that we all have very busy lifes, but like I said at dads, funeral, why is it we only take time for weddings, births, and death. and the one that we all connect with the most is the latest. We really need to follow that train thingy mom sent around and drive it once in a while, ( I liked that mom!) anyways I will post some photos, when I get time to down load them from the one computer that kind of crashed to the new one. I am almost done with this new plant, and it will be up and running this week. production will follow next week, and hopefully all the tweeks will have been made at that time. Any ways, to all who shall read, have a wonderful day

JOTD

Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House. One is from Chicago, another is from Tennessee, and the third is fromMinnesota. All three go with a White House official to examine the fence. The Minnesota contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100profit for me."The Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."The Chicago contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to theWhite House official and whispers, "$2,700."The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"The Chicago contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence.""Done!" replies the government official.

Hey

Hey everybody! Looks like I'll be the first to get the ball rollin here.My son Jeremy is home from Iraq finally. He spent the first three weeks with his mom and tells me she dragged him here and there and everywhere meeting everyone she knows so while he's with me I'm just going to be sure he gets to relax and have some peace and quiet. He told me he had a hard time driving at first and would get real tense especially at red lights when someone would pull up next to him. He just feels real nervous like he should go but says its getting a lot better now although he still avoids heavy traffic.
Allen says he just loves New York and wants to go back soon. He says people are so much nicer there, when you say good morning they say it back. I just spend a lot of time staring out the window wishing it would stop raining and get a little warmer. Theres so much I could be doing out there and I've run out of stuff to do indoors (stuff I feel like doing anyway) My camera is an old one that uses floppy discs and my 'puter doesn't have a floppy drive so I guess its time to shop for a new camera so I can post some pictures here.
Thats enough for me at this time since I'm totally new to this blog thing, don't wanna strain myself or something. Talk to ya'll later, Greg
